Barak Valley News, June 13: The health services of Dholai, which have been reeling under a long-standing doctor shortage, have finally come back to life. With the efforts of local MLA Nihar Ranjan Das and the prompt intervention of the State Health Minister, six doctors have been appointed at a time in various health centres of Dholai under the State Health Mission. For several months, the Dholai Block Primary Health Centre and five small primary health centres including the Palanghat Model Hospital under it have been facing shortage of doctors.

Despite the improved infrastructure, patients were not getting timely medical services due to lack of doctors, which often made headlines for the health centers in Dholai. On June 7, when patients injured in two separate accidents were taken to the Dholai Primary Health Center, they had to be shifted to Silchar Medical College Hospital, 35 km away, in a life-threatening condition, due to the absence of a doctor. The incident was reported in the daily topical newspaper, Paskosh, the next day.

It came to the attention of Dholai MLA Nihar Ranjan Das.

MLA Niharranjan Das, without delay, brought the matter to the notice of the state health minister. As soon as the health minister came to know about the matter, he immediately took steps to appoint doctors. On his instructions, six doctors have been appointed at the same time in different health centers of Dholai. As per the instructions of the state health department, the newly appointed doctors are Dholai Khand Primary Health Center Dr. Samaresh Chandra Sutradhar, Hawaithang.

Dr. Aditi Dhar at the small primary medical center, Dr. Arikharima Roy at the small primary medical center in Narsinghpur, Dr. Sukmun Firoza Barabhuiyan at the small primary medical center in Bidyaratpur, Vishal Chandra Dey at the small primary medical center in Barajalenga, and Dr. Smriti Das at the small primary medical center in Darmikhal. In this regard, MLA Niharranjan Das said, 'I am always striving for the development of Dholai. After receiving various complaints about health services, I quickly raised the matter with the Health Minister. Appointment of six doctors at once in Dholai.

I express my gratitude to the Health Minister for this. I hope that as a result, the quality of health services in Dholai will improve and the common people will get good treatment. On the other hand, the local people have thanked MLA Nihar Ranjan Das for appointing doctors in various health centers in Dholai.

According to them, this appointment will end the long-standing suffering and make health services accessible to all. This quick step will undoubtedly bring a positive change for the health system in Dholai.
