Barak Valley News : Rajdeep Goala, general secretary of Barak Tea Workers Union, held a detailed discussion with the garden authorities on various problems of the garden workers of Bhuban Valley Tea Garden. The discussion meeting was held on Tuesday. The garden workers decided to go on strike on June 7.
Although the government had decided to pay the garden
workers a wage of Rs 228.00, the Bhuban Valley Garden Authority is not
implementing the government's decision. After this news reached the workers' union,
the union intervened. The workers were told that the issue would be discussed
and resolved soon. On the assurance of the union, the garden workers withdrew
the agitation and joined the work.
Two days later, on June 10, Rajdeep Goala, general secretary
of the Barak Tea Workers Union, arrived at the Bhuban Valley tea estate to take
the workers to the plantation authorities for talks.
On this day, he participated in an important discussion with
the garden authorities regarding the workers and garden panchayats of Bhuban
Valley Tea Garden and the outpost garden of Matinagar and Chengjur.
Decided in the meeting
In the meeting, it was decided in discussions with the
garden authorities that the fixed wage of the workers will be paid regularly at
a rate of 228 rupees daily from June 19. In addition, the two sides discussed
the immediate filling of the vacancies in the garden, regular provision of
ration to the families of the workers, cleaning the garden drains and providing
medicines to the workers by the garden authorities, among other issues. The
union demanded that the demands be met soon. Rajdeep Goala was accompanied by
Assistant General Secretary Khirod Karmakar, Union organizer Nirmal Bauri from
Binnakandi Garden, Bhuban Valley Tea Garden and the garden panchayat and
workers of Chengjur and Motinagar divisions of this garden. Garden manager
Alkaranjan Bhattacharya was present.
